Our Mission

We Build Better Humans: the Kicking Is Just the Tool

Most people think martial arts is about teaching people how to fight. At Pil Sung Do, we spend far more time teaching students how not to fight. Awareness, de-escalation, and quiet confidence come first; effective technique backs it up.

We've been part of the Frimley and Camberley community for over three and a half decades. There are no benchwarmers here: every student trains for the whole class, and no one is left behind because they aren't naturally athletic. You're not competing against the person next to you; you're competing against who you were yesterday.

  • Practicality FirstNo flowery, movie-style moves. If you're going to spend time learning self-defence, it should actually work.
  • No Bench PolicyEvery student is on the mats for the entire class. No one sits out because they aren't 'good enough' yet.
  • Character DevelopmentConfidence, focus, and respect: the 'Big Three' that follow our students into school, work, and life.
  • Family AtmosphereA friendly, ego-free community. Professionals, mums, students, kids, and retirees all training side by side.

Grandmaster Nigel Glossop

Grandmaster Nigel Glossop has been training in martial arts for over 40 years and has successfully run schools for over 20 years, in which time he has rewardingly taught thousands of men, women, and children to defend themselves, gain confidence, and keep fit. He took up martial arts at the age of 7, enrolling in Wado Ryu Karate under the guidance of Robin Walker and Grandmaster Professor Tatsuo Suzuki (8th Dan).

Four years later he moved on to Jujitsu and Jujitsu Kobudo (weapons training). In 1987 he began training with Grandmaster Stephen Hammouda in Tae Kwon Do, Hapkido, Korean Kickboxing, Choi Kwang Do, and Pil Sung Do. While at university in 1992 he furthered his development in Tae Kwon Do, Jujitsu, Judo, and Hapkido, and won the gold medal in the Student National Tae Kwon Do Championships plus over 20 other national semi- and full-contact competitions.

He currently holds Black Belt Dan ranks in Karate, Tae Kwon Do, and Jujitsu, plus senior Dan ranks in Choi Kwang Do and Mastership in Pil Sung Do. He was promoted to 8th Dan Grandmaster on 23rd October 2017 by the founder of Pil Sung Do, Supreme Grandmaster S.E.N Hammouda.

"As the founder & father of Pil Sung Do it has been my greatest accomplishment and life goal to produce Grandmasters in Pil Sung Do. It is now my pleasure to announce that Nigel Glossop has passed all tests and requirements and has been promoted to the rank of 8th Dan Grandmaster. I fully trust that Grandmaster Glossop will continue teaching Pil Sung Do in its truest form."

Nathalie Pinte

Nathalie Pinte

Chief Instructor

"Pil Sung Do is the kind of addiction I wish for everyone. Female, male, young, old, any shape or form: we can all do it!" Pil Sung Do came into Nathalie's life when she was at her lowest, physically and mentally. After a month, classes felt easier and she was getting fitter. Now, as Chief Instructor, she finds real joy in helping students on their Pil Sung Do journey and passing on the endless knowledge continuously acquired from our amazing Grandmaster and instructors.

Adam Fisher

Adam Fisher

Instructor

Adam started training in Pil Sung Do five years ago with his son. What they hoped would be a joint hobby has become a shared passion. His strength and fitness have improved beyond all expectation, and being in the moment in class is such a given, he has come to think of it as 'effortless mindfulness'. As an instructor, his goal is to support, encourage, and enthuse all students to fulfil their potential and achieve their own goals.
